About Miquel Barceló
Miquel Barceló is the open sky since its inception. One of the most sought after artists of today. A trip to Paris in 1970 where you will discover the art brut style that leaves a strong influence on the early works presented in public. He was part of the group Taller de Mallorca Lunatic. He studied at the School of Decorative Arts in Palma de Mallorca between 1972 and 1973 and continued in 1974 at the School of Fine Arts of Sant Jordi in Barcelona, but soon abandoned his studies.
Subsequently painting gives way to a more roots in tradition and well emerge the series of libraries, museums and theaters forced perspectives and dense pictorial treatment.
Among the features of his work is remarkable the inspiration in nature, getting relief through the use of a dense and generally dark fillings. The Mediterranean and Africa have been two of the most important benchmarks. The discovery of Africa on a trip to Mali has made its people and life in the desert is one of the most developed in his work in recent years, always reflecting a concern for nature over time and the origins.
He currently lives between Paris, Majorca and Mali, Africa.
